A New and Correct

Chart of the Opinionated Sea

shewing ten islands of settled preference, each drawn to the size of its list, with soundings, anchorages and the usual passages between. Choose an island to land on it.

Designer's note

The whole collection is one sea chart. An island's area is its list's length, the three seas are the three moods, and you get about by sailing to whatever is nearest rather than by reading a menu. Landing on an island redraws it at large scale with every item as a numbered place and a gazetteer beside it; a list of three is a skerry with room for three engravings, a list of a hundred is a continent with a grid and grid references.

Hardest to build: coastlines and place positions that stay put as lists grow (they are seeded from the list here, so adding an item would redraw the island), and label placement on the overview once there are forty islands rather than ten. Pan and zoom on a phone would want real care. Back to the contact sheet.
