for the identification, in the field, of ten opinions and their nearest relatives
Begin at couplet 1. Of each pair of statements choose the one that fits you at present, and go where it sends you. The key ends at a plate.
There is no menu. The site is a dichotomous key of the kind a botanist uses: answer a pair of plain statements about your mood and it narrows you to one list, shown as a specimen plate with figures, field marks and "similar species" that lead on to the next list. A list of three becomes three large figures; a list of a hundred becomes a herbarium sheet of a hundred mounted spines with a movable label.
Hardest to build: keeping the key honest as lists are added, since every new list needs a new couplet and a pair of statements worth reading. The key should be authored by hand as a tree in one file, with a build check that every list is reachable. Back to the contact sheet.
